What To Bring & How To Start
Seek out the following information before starting an interview:
- Don't be late for the interview
- When scheduling the first interview, ask if you will be required to complete an application. If so, arrive at least 30 min early and remember to bring all your work history information and contact numbers.
- Greet the interviewer, smile, look the interviewer in the eye, thank them for meeting with you
- Firmly shake hands
- Use the terms "thank you" and "please"
- Let the employer have control
- Introduce yourself, don't assume the interviewer remembers your name
- Maintain eye contact but don't stare down the interviewer
- Stand until the interviewer asks you to sit down
- Relax and sit naturally do not slump or lean on the interviewer's desk
- Present your resume
- Be prepared to make small talk
- Be prepared to talk about yourself as a person
- Speak in a firm, clear and confident voice
- Maintain a positive attitude
- Don't chew gum or smoke
- Thank them for the opportunity to meet with them and for their time.
- Shake hands upon departure
- Smile
- At the end of each interview, thank each person interviewing you.
- If you are interested in the position, be sure you inform each person you have interviewed with, that you are interested in joining the company's team.
